Fianna Fail to reprogram military for cyber-security

Fianna Fail is to propose the creation of a cyber-command unit as part of a plan to modernise the Defence Forces, following similar moves by other EU states.

The proposal, which is expected to be in the party’s general election manifesto, is to create a team of cyber-security experts drawn from the private sector to work within the Defence Forces. The team would protect the state from cyber-attacks by both criminals and other nations, such as Russia, which is suspected of targeting Irish institutions and IT companies based in Dublin.

Experts would work with military to shield against hackers
